Proposed remodel and expansion of residential property in NW Olympia. The property has a majestic oak tree. The current proposal adds additional living space above the existing house and features a deck to appreciate the beauty of the tree.
The primary goal of the family is to expand their limited house to add more bedrooms and living space for their growing family. The site has limited area to expand out, so the natural choice is to expand up, but the house is right next to a large oak tree that would prohibit going up over half of the area. In this plan, the first floor would become all bedrooms and the existing low ceiling would be romped to expose the vaulted ceiling of the existing house structure. Then the primary kitchen, living area would be upstairs to appreciate the beauty of the tree and to allow for easy access to the deck area from the kitchen for social indoor/outdoor gatherings.
